Holding seven Mining Leases and seven Exploration Permits for Minerals, Axiom continues to maintain a strategic tenement position in North Queensland. This aligns with our exploration strategy of building a portfolio of highly prospective tenements at various stages in the development pipeline.

Principal mineral project

Cardross Copper Gold Silver Project

In 2014, Axiom undertook a review of our North Queensland tenements and evaluated exploration priorities with regards to other assets in our portfolio. Axiom remains confident of the potential of the Cardross Project following a review and peer assessment of the Mountain Maid intrusive gold system undertaken in 2013.

The review highlighted significant under-explored areas that are interpreted to be the preferred zones for gold mineralisation. These areas include Callaghan Springs, Spaniard, Split Rock and Split Rock East prospects.

Edenvale Uranium Project

Conceptual target, rollfront cross section

The Eden Vale Exploration Permit for Minerals (EPM) covers more than 330km2 of prospective Gilbert River Formation.

The previous tenement holder, Australian and New Zealand Exploration Company, targeted sandstone units within the tenement application area with drilling that defined the start of a sandstone channel and containing a number of anomalous uranium results in oxidised and reduced channel sands. Axiom Mining is currently interpreting the undrilled channel predicted by linear elongated gravity low as defining a large sand-filled river system sitting in a channel carved into the basement. Maureen (held by Mega Uranium Limited) and much outcropping hard rock style uranium mineralisation, discovered in the 1970s, are hosted in the basement sequences to the southeast and outside of the EPM application area.

Minnamoolka Nickel Project

The nickel Exploration Permit for Minerals (EPM) covers 19km2 encompassing the southern and western extensions of the Minnamoolka deposit, owned by  Metallica Minerals Limited. Surface indications of mineralisation as well as drilling by previous holder of the project, AO (Australia) Pty Ltd, has identified an area with potential for hosting a nickel deposit associated with both the upper limonitic and lower saprolitic zones of the laterite.

Millungera Oil Shale Project

The Queensland Department of Natural Resources and Mines granted three EPMs for Blackbull, Whitebull and Redbull areas. EPM 25252 has been granted for three years whilst the remaining two tenements EPMs 25256 and 25257 have been granted for five years.
